MAC® TROJAN
As of January 22, 2009, we were shocked to hear of what is one of the first major Trojans to infect the Mac. It is reported that a Trojan File was also being installed when tens of thousands of people downloaded and installed a pirated version of iWork® '09. The Trojan is entitled OSX.Trojan.iServices.A and, once the Trojan is installed, it will run as a startup item as the root user. It places itself in your startup items as /System/Library/StartupItems/iWorkServices and from there it will allow other users (really hackers) to connect to your Mac so they can install more harmful files to further infect your Mac. Thanks to Macrumors.com, they have posted a way to rid your Mac of the Trojan in seven simple command line steps. If you have installed this illegal version of iWork '09 and are feeling adventurous, follow these steps. Otherwise, call us and we will make sure your Mac remains Trojan-free.
1) (open Terminal.app)
2) sudo su (enter password)
3) rm -r /System/Library/StartupItems/iWorkServices
4) rm /private/tmp/.iWorkServices
5) rm /usr/bin/iWorkServices
6) rm -r /Library/Receipts/iWorkServices.pkg
7) killall -9 iWorkServices

NEW iPhone™ IN 2009?
It is reported on January 28 on Macrumors.com that there could be a new generation iPhone in our midst. When digging through the iPhone 2.1 and 2.2 firmware updates it was noticed that there was a new model number entitled iPhone 2,1 embedded in the updates. The current iPhone 3G model number is entitled iPhone 1,2 and its predecessor, the original iPhone, is entitled model number 1,1. The model numbers in the past did not mean minor differences but major differences in how the iPhone functions. Many are speculating that the new generation iPhone will have something connected to either a new multi-core CPU (Central Processing Unit) or a new multi-core GPU (Graphics Processing Unit). This would mean a faster and/or more responsive iPhone. It is rumored that the release should happen sometime in early June as have the past generation iPhones. For now, the only thing we as consumers can do is join the throngs of people who have heard the rumors and are anxious to hear the truth behind it.
