Twitter? What’s that?
The Concept of Twitter: By Tamman's Own Trevor Menagh
The concept behind Twitter is simple. You go to a website (iPhone™ app,
etc.) and answer the question, "What are you doing?" You have 140 characters to answer this question. That's it. Now, that doesn't sound terribly exciting, until you add in the idea that other people can read what you write, and you can read what other people write. So you can track what others are doing, and others can track you.
Now, you might ask, "Isn't that the same as a blog, or an email
newsletter?" Yes and no. The key difference is the brevity of your posts. Short posts are quick to read, and easy to keep track of. That is the key reason that Twitter and other "micro-blogging" sites have taken off in the last year or so.
The next question you might have is, "How can I use this to leverage my
business?" Micro-blogging can be a great marketing tool, especially with people in their 20's and 30's. It is a fun and popular way to get out information. Think of it as an extremely inexpensive way to access a
young, tech-savvy audience. Adding this to your marketing toolkit will
provide a fast and easy way to gain exposure for you and your clients.
NEW From Apple®.
Announced on Tuesday 3/3, Apple has revealed three new updates for their already powerful computers! First to be noted is the new Mac® mini. The mini has been upgraded to an Intel Core 2 Duo chipset with a speed of 2GHZ. The mini also upgraded to the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics card, making it five times faster than the previous model. The mini also offers a new port configuration in the back including five USB 2.0, one Firewire 800, one mini display out, mini DVI out, Ethernet, and, of course, power. Second is a new version of the iMac®. Apple now seams to be pushing to sell the 24” iMac’s rather than the 20”. Only one configuration of the 20” is being sold. The 24-inch, however, now comes in three configurations. The speeds vary from 2.66GHz, 2.93Gz, and 3.06GHz. The new standard for RAM is set at 4GB with a possible upgrade to 8GB. Along with the RAM, a new standard 640GB hardrive is equipped with a possible 1TB upgrade. In addition to the amazing base models of the iMac they are priced lower than ever starting at $1499 for a 24”. Finally, the Mac Pro got the most fine-tuning of all the machines. The Mac Pro’s are now shipped with the brand new Intel Quad-Core Xeon “Nehalem” processors, making them almost twice as fast. Also, the Mac Pro’s have the option of upgrading their NIVDIA GeForce GT graphics cards to the new ATI Radeon HD 4870, which will support the new LED displays. It was a busy day on Tuesday as far as Apple upgrades, but I think that everybody will take the news with overwhelming happiness.
