iPhone™ update 3.0
On Tuesday March 17th, Apple® announced the new iPhone software update 3.0. The new update will be officially released in the summer of 2009 and will be equipped with an array of new features. The most talked about feature is the Cut, Copy and Paste function. The Cut, Copy and Paste function seems to be easy to use and let’s the user copy text, web text and photos across different apps. Some of the apps that will take advantage of Cut, Copy, and Paste include mail, messaging, and notes, but it also applies to most developer apps.
Another big feature in the iPhone 3.0 software is the new messaging system MMS or Multimedia Messaging Service. The new MMS feature lets users send not only text, but also pictures, audio and address book contacts through the built in app.
The third major update in the software is the introduction of Spotlight to the phone. The spotlight feature works just the same as it does on your Mac® OS where it searches your entire iPhone for your search term. The results will be displayed in an organized and collated list by application. Although the 3.0 software doesn’t have an accessible file system, there are still lots of data that can be queried.
These three major features stood out among the 100 new features in the software. The update will be free to all customers with the iPhone 3g and the original iPhone. However not all of the new features will work on the original iPhone due to the hardware. The 3.0 software will be offered to the iPod touch®, but with the price of $9.95.

New iPhone
After the announcement of the new iPhone 3.0 software there has been speculation of a whole new version of the iPhone. Rumor has it, from the Silicon Valley Insider, the new iPhone will come equipped with faster Internet speeds. It is not yet known if the faster Internet speed is due to a hardware upgrade inside the iPhone such as a wifi card or an upgraded network from AT&T to reach higher speeds. Along with faster Internet, Appleinsider has speculated that the new iPhone will contain a video camera. The video camera would take higher quality pictures as well as video. The talk on the Internet is that the new iPhone will be revealed simultaneously with the 3.0 software update sometime in June.

The Power of the Spacebar
In Leopard, by striking the space bar when any object is selected the finder will open a large thumbnail showing information about the object. When a file, such as audio, images, PDF’s, text documents and movies, is selected the spacebar function will let you preview or play the file without opening any applications. This will save users a large amount of wasted time when waiting for an application to launch, adding to the efficiency of the workflow.
